Multimillion-Dollar
Upgrade Fuses Functionality, Tech, and Local Heritage
Hilton Tokyo has
completed a multimillion-dollar renovation of its entire suite of events spaces
in response to growing demand from international and domestic markets for
adaptable, AV-integrated, modular, and experience-driven MICE.
The remodel has
transformed the Shinjuku property’s entire third and fourth floors to provide
engaging, seamless, and flexible event experiences. The modern, functional,
tech-ready spaces, which harmonize Shinjuku’s traditional and contemporary
craftsmanship, strengthen the property’s position as an award winning MICE
hotel, as recognized by Cvent, which has ranked Hilton Tokyo as one of the Top
50 Meeting Hotels in the Asia-Pacific region for the past three consecutive
years. Hilton Tokyo has also been ranked among the Top 5 Hotels in Tokyo in the
World’s Best Awards 2025 by Travel + Leisure.
Dynamic rooms On
the third floor, 200 sqm of meeting space has been added to create a total of
1,200 sqm, comprising four meeting rooms, five function rooms, one pre-function
room, three break-out areas and one lecture hall—a unique resource in Tokyo. With
a focus on functionality and convenience, the rooms can be connected, split,
orientated in multiple ways, and set up in a range of diverse formats, all
while being supported by built-in or improved access to F&B services.
The revamped 945
sqm Kiku Ballroom, which features five-meter ceilings and capacity for 1,000
guests, allows for partitioning into four sections (Kiku 1–4), promoting
greater adaptability. Kiku 1–3 is 798 sqm, suitable for up to 700 guests (in
theater style) and 420 guests (for a gala dinner). Covering 147 sqm, Kiku 4 can
hold up to 150 guests (in theater style) or 80 guests (in banquet style).
The Ballroom’s
adjoining 490 sqm pre-function area offers impressive views of the Shinjuku
skyline and can be used for event registration, refreshments, cocktail
receptions, networking, and exhibitions. To promote ease of use and guest flow,
the space is connected via two sets of elevators (total eight elevators) to the
rest of the property and via a spiral staircase to the third-floor meeting
rooms. Groups using the entire Ballroom can utilize the pre-function area
exclusively.
Tech-equipped
spaces To provide an immersive, premium event space, the Ballroom is equipped
with a curved, state-of-the-art Barco LED Wall (15m x 3m), the largest such
wall of any hotel ballroom in Japan, and an additional LED screen (7m x 4m), on
the opposite wall, both provided by audio-visual system integrator Vega Project
K.K. Event content can be displayed independently or synchronized seamlessly
across both displays, offering exceptional customization capabilities while
delivering an unrivaled experience for both organizers and attendees.
The new AV system
is designed for ease of use, featuring intuitive controls accessible from
wall-mounted touch panels or an iPad, enabling operation with minimal
instruction. For events requiring more advanced production, the system can be
expanded with professional equipment, such as audio mixers and video switchers,
to support a wide range of specialized AV requirements. Additionally, a
discreet, cutting-edge digital audio system ensures clear, evenly distributed
sound, enhancing the overall experience while preserving the venue’s aesthetic.
Embracing
authenticity: For over a century, Shinjuku has stood at the forefront of
Japan’s letterpress printing and indigo dyeing traditions thanks to the mastery
of local artisans and the purity of the water flowing through its narrow
rivers. Today, Hilton Tokyo invites guests to explore this legacy of
craftsmanship in its new event spaces, each one telling a unique chapter of the
district’s storied past.
Drawing
inspiration from Shinjuku’s rich cultural heritage and Tokyo’s modern energy,
the design was created by award-winning Singapore-based company HBA (Hirsch
Bedner Associates). The color palette celebrates Tokyo’s traditional hues; deep
blues—prominent in Japanese art since the 17th century— merge with indigo,
while warm, earthy tones recall the area’s wooden architecture. Touches of gold
pay tribute to the samurai who once called this neighborhood home.
