The Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) and Coex Convention & Exhibition Center (Coex) from the Republic of Korea (South Korea), have jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to elevate and drive the event industry between Thailand and Korea. The collaboration aims to exchange knowledge and expertise and support various marketing activities, as well as facilitating the exchange of personnel to enhance capabilities in event and conference management.
QSNCC, the first national
convention center of Thailand and the biggest convention center in Bangkok, and
Coex, the biggest convention and exhibition center in
Seoul, are both leading venues with significant roles in the
development of the event industry in their respective countries. Their physical
and interior components share harmony. Both these convention centers have large
spaces that cover venues and retail areas, capable of accommodating various
types of events and lifestyles. They are centrally located with convenient
transportation routes. They are also surrounded by shopping centers,
restaurants, and hotels, and have convenient amenities and technological advancements.
Moreover, they both prioritize environmental sustainability and aim to develop
the event industry while driving the country’s economy forward.
Mr. Lee Dong-ki, the CEO of Coex, stated, “We hope that this signing agreement will be a significant milestone that helps break the limitations in terms of competitiveness for both Coex and QSNCC, enabling sustainable development of the event and conference industry capabilities. This collaboration will open doors to advancements in the exhibition and conference industry in both countries, through the discovery of new business opportunities, in addition to what both convention centers have experienced before.”
Mr. Sutichai Bunditvorapoom, Executive Vice President of N.C.C.
Management and Development Co., Ltd., the operator of QSNCC, stated,
“This collaboration forms a partnership that will enhance and elevate the
capabilities of hosting diverse events.
It
will facilitate the exchange of expertise and new technologies to support
sustainable event management and attract new profile events from Korean
organizers, providing opportunities for the Thai event industry and creative industries to grow
and thrive, similar to the Korean event industry, which has successfully and
continuously propelled the entertainment, concerts, e-sports, and gaming
sectors to international markets.”
“QSNCC
recognizes the opportunities for expanding the potential of event platforms through
the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and various opportunities with Coex. This
collaboration aims to enhance event organization capabilities for QSNCC and
drive the international event industry. The cooperation encompasses three
dimensions, including the
exchange of knowledge in basic services, such as management and the
exchange of personnel in the event industry; the provision of event bidding information including past and
current events; and the joint
business development as well as conducting marketing activities,” Mr.
Sutichai concluded.
