Australian High Commission In India confirms a bounce back in visa applications from India. Australia has opened its borders to fully vaccinated travelers from all nations starting 21st February 2022.
"Government of Australia has announced a number of new initiatives to welcome back visitors to Australia, even in some special cases a free visitor visa for those who could not use the earlier stamped visa due to pandemic. With ICC T20 world cup approaching fast, Australia is also gearing up for fast and convenient visa processing procedures to be in place" quoted Chris Waters, minister counsellor for Southeast Asia, department of home affairs at the Australian High Commission.
Due to strong demand, everyone is encouraged to lodge their visa applications well in advance. An Australian visitor visa is valid for between 12 months to 3 years of its approval, hence one may plan for a visa as early and suitable to travel needs, added Chris Waters.
The Digital Passenger Declaration (DPD) has replaced the Australia Travel Declaration. All passengers
arriving by air into Australia should complete the DPD. You can start your DPD seven days before your flight
and submit it within 72 hours prior to your departure for Australia. This is because you must provide your
health information and declaration (vaccination status and COVID-19 test result) within 72 hours before your
flight. For information on travel to Australia, visit: COVID-19 and the border (homeaffairs.gov.au)
