Following the Chief Executive’s 2020 Policy Address, Dr. YK Pang, Chairman of Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), made the following response:

“The Hong Kong Tourism Board thanks the HKSAR Government for extending additional support to the tourism industry. As the tourism and related sectors are now facing unprecedented challenges, we believe that the relief measures announced today can help tide the travel trade over the immediate difficulties.”

“The Hong Kong Tourism Board also supports the multifarious proposals in the Policy Address to drive the long-term development of the tourism industry. Among them, the ‘Invigorating Island South’ development plan will help the Board broaden its ‘Hong Kong Neighbourhoods’ promotion campaign, organized in recent years. We will actively study how to repackage Island South for promotion to Hong Kong people and visitors alike, extending the spirit of the ‘Old Town Central’ and ‘Sham Shui Po – Every Bit Local’ campaigns.”

“In the long run, the HKTB is reviewing Hong Kong’s tourism positioning while doing its best to maintain Hong Kong’s visibility in visitor source markets. We will also continue to work closely with our trade partners in introducing offers and travel products when cross-boundary travel resumes to attract inbound visitors and speed up the recovery of the industry.”
