No Decision on International Flights Yet

750 Private Carriers and 300 Air India Flights to Add on under Vande Bharat Mission

Clearing the air on the resumption of International Flights, Mr. Puri quoted "As of now there are no decisions in this regard. A lot will depend on the Destinations who are ready to welcome incoming passengers from other nations. Right now the situation is far from normal. So we have to wait for the situation to get improved.  So overall depends on countries to ease restrictions on incoming travelers"

Talking about Domestic Aviation, Puri mentioned that currently, domestic flight load stands at 33%, the moment it's up by 17% more, we shall add more routes in domestic operations. Mr. Puri also mentioned International flight operations in other countries, which is close to 10%. And most of them are allowing their own citizens to fly back to their homes. Moreover mostly are following quarantine rules & regulations.

Ministry may consider opening up flights with North America on case to case basis, as there is significant traffic on the route.

Flight services were shut at the end of March when the lockdown was announced in-country. Right now Domestic Flights are on and International operations are on an emergency basis only.
